At Idaho Power, we are committed to innovation, customer choice and equal access to the electrical grid.
The number of Idaho Power customers choosing to install on-site generation — such as rooftop solar panels — is growing. Going forward, Idaho Power believes establishing new classes for residential and small general service customers with on-site generation is necessary to keep grid access and maintenance costs fair and equitable for everyone.
In May 2018, the Idaho Public Utilities Commission approved Idaho Power’s request to create new classes for residential and small general service customers with on-site generation. The IPUC order also calls for a comprehensive study of the benefits and costs of on-site generation. No changes will be made to on-site generation pricing or rate structure at this time.
