Idaho Power Begins Collaborative Process for On-site Generation Study

Idaho Power has initiated the process for a comprehensive study of the costs and benefits of on-site generation. The request, outlined in a recent filing with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission, kicks off a multi-phase process whereby Idaho Power will work with the commission, the public and other stakeholders to (1) design the scope for a study, (2) complete and review the study and (3) implement potential changes to Idaho Power’s on-site generation offerings.

Idaho Power Requests Two Rate Adjustments for Idaho Customers
(sent to all Idaho customers)
Idaho Power has requested two rate adjustments with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission (IPUC) related to depreciation of assets and the company’s early exit from the Bridger coal-fired power plant. If both requests are approved as filed, the average residential customer using 950 kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy per month would see a monthly bill increase of $2.71, effective December 1, 2021.

Idaho Power files annual Power Cost Adjustment
Idaho Power has filed the final piece of its annual spring cost adjustments with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission (IPUC). This year’s Power Cost Adjustment (PCA) calls for a price increase of $39.1 million across all customer classes. If approved as filed, a typical Idaho residential customer using 950 kilowatt-hours per month would see about a $2.57 increase to their monthly bill beginning June 1. In March, Idaho Power filed the Fixed Cost Adjustment (FCA), which also goes into effect June 1 and calls for an increase of $2.1 million for Idaho residential and small general service customers. If approved as filed, the FCA would result in an additional monthly increase of $0.37 for the average residential customer.

Residential New Construction Pilot Program

This program pays an incentive to builders for electrically heated homes using heat pump technology built to be 10, 15 or 20% percent more efficient than state energy code requirements.

Eligible customers buying a new electrically-heated ENERGY STAR® manufactured home can receive a $1,000 sales rebate and their sales consultant a $200 sales bonus.

Idaho Power files annual Fixed Cost Adjustment
Idaho Power has filed the first of two spring cost adjustments with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission (IPUC). This year’s Fixed Cost Adjustment (FCA) requests an increase of $2,816,643 for residential and small general service customers in Idaho. If approved as filed, a typical residential customer using 950 kilowatt-hours per month would see about a $0.37 increase to their monthly bill beginning June 1. The final impact to customer bills won’t be known until the Power Cost Adjustment (PCA), is filed in April.
