Solar 4R Schools

Solar 4R Schools educates students about renewable energy by placing solar installations on school property, along with a data monitoring system and a curriculum package.

Energy generated by these small-scale solar-electric systems helps participating schools offset a portion of their electricity use.

Funded by the Green Power Program participants and administered by the Bonneville Environmental Foundation, Solar 4R Schools is available to K-12 schools in Idaho Power’s service area.

How to Apply

Applications are welcome anytime and are reviewed twice a year, on April 1 and Oct. 1. Two to four projects are selected each year. Apply here, or for information call 208-388-5948.

Applications should include:

  • Designation of a dedicated teacher or other school employee to champion the project
  • Examples of how teachers will use the system and data in the classroom
  • Description of how the project complements other school activities such as energy or environmental education
