N. Vern Porter
Vice President of Delivery Engineering and Construction, Idaho Power
Vern Porter, appointed vice president of Engineering and Construction in October 2009, joined Idaho Power in 1989 after starting his career in 1986 with Pacific Gas and Electric Company.
Prior to his current position, Porter has held a variety of other positions within the company, including:
- high voltage transmission engineer
- system planner
- technical operations engineer
- energy trader
- senior manager of Grid Operations
- senior manager of Customer Service
- general manager of Power Production
- vice president of Engineering and Operations.
Porter represented the company at Western Electric Coordinating Council (WECC), Northwest Power Pool and served on the Pacific Northwest Security Coordinator board. He also chaired the WECC Y2K Operational Preparedness Task Force and the WECC July 2, 1996 Outage Investigation Task Force.
Porter is a graduate of Brigham Young University, earning his Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering in 1985 and Masters of Science in 1986.
