BRUNEAU, Idaho — The docks on the north side of Idaho Power’s Loveridge Bridge recreation access at C.J. Strike Reservoir are closed during facility upgrades. The restroom and parking lot, and river access on the south side remain open. The project is expected to take up to two weeks to complete.
Idaho Power is in the midst of a multi-year project to upgrade the docks at its C.J. Strike facilities. Floating docks were installed at North Park last year. New docks at The Narrows will be complete before the end of August. After Loveridge North upgrades are complete, contractors will move to Loveridge South, and finally to the Cottonwood Campground docks after Sept. 1.
The new floating docks are intended to better withstand changing water levels at the reservoir as well as the frequent waves driven by windy conditions there. Located south of Mountain Home, C.J. Strike is one of southern Idaho’s most popular recreation destinations for fishing, boating, and water skiing. Idaho Power operates four campgrounds at the reservoir.
“This work will improve the experience for recreational users, and we appreciate the public’s patience while we complete the next phase of this project,” said Idaho Power Environmental Manager Fred Noland, who oversees the company’s recreation projects. Idaho Power maintains dozens of recreational facilities as part of its federal licenses to operate hydroelectric projects along the Snake River.
