Monday is National 8/11 Day — a catchy reminder to call 811 before you dig. Many utility lines, including power lines, are buried underground in yards and neighborhoods. To keep you safe and prevent costly repairs you may be responsible for if you dig into a utility line, Idaho Power encourages customers to dial 811.
811 is a free service in which utilities come out and mark the lines buried in the area you want to dig. Call at least two business days before digging to allow time for the lines to be marked.
Whether planting trees, installing a fence, or searching for buried treasure, it’s recommended that you call 811 beforehand. Idaho Power also asks customers not to plant trees under power lines.
