Stay Safe this Labor Day Weekend

If you’re looking to spend this Labor Day weekend recreating in nearby waters or campgrounds, Idaho Power has some safety information to keep in mind.

Don’t wade, swim, fish or anchor your boat directly upstream or downstream from a dam, as normal dam operations can cause unexpected and rapid changes in the water level. And never cross or tie up to buoy lines, which are in place for your safety.

The energy company also recommends wearing a Coast Guard-approved flotation device when in the water. Several life jacket loaner stations are available along the Snake River.

Plan ahead by checking local weather and water conditions and advisories. Know about the presence of harmful algae blooms on reservoirs and fire restrictions at campgrounds. Visit idahopower.com/recreation for more information.
