Episode nine in the video series documenting Idaho Power’s 100-year history is titled “A Century of Service: Back to Basics, 2000-2009.”
The video describes the impacts of the September 11, 2001 tragedy, including heightened security at the company’s power plants. It also highlights the shift of parent company IDACORP Inc’s emphasis on nonregulated subsidiaries, such as energy trading and internet services ventures, back to focusing on its primary subsidiary, Idaho Power.
The roll-out of more than 400,000 automated meters enabled Idaho Power to digitally collect energy data in real-time and customers to view and manage their energy consumption on the company’s website through myAccount.
Other areas of focus during this decade include long-range electrical planning, new Energy Efficiency programs, safety, relicensing, environmental stewardship and community involvement.
