Many people are getting in the holiday spirit early this year, and Idaho Power is proud to be part of lighting the holidays and powering family traditions. And with all the extra lights, it’s a great time to think about ways to save energy.
- Use LED lights. When replacing light strands that are outdated or unsafe (or maybe just too tangled to save), go for LEDs. They use at least 75% less energy than conventional lights.
- Pair any lights with indoor/outdoor timers. Whether it’s for the Christmas tree, outdoor lights or an inflatable snowman, timers can help reduce energy waste, increase safety and save you some trips outside in the cold!
- Turn off extra lights when the tree is lit. Focus the light on the main attraction and add a warm and cozy feeling to the room.
- Yard inflatables are an efficient choice. A small yard inflatable costs less than $1 to operate as part of your holiday lineup – and that’s for 18 hours a day for 40 days! Most of them use LED lights and are more efficient than your traditional incandescent lights.
