Arbor Day is coming up, and Idaho Power is helping local communities plant trees to help with energy conservation.
The Idaho Nursery and Landscape Association (INLA) and the Idaho Department of Lands (IDL), along with utilities Idaho Power, Avista and Rocky Mountain Power, have launched “Planting Idaho,” a program intended to help communities celebrate Arbor Day by contributing to healthy urban forests and planting the right trees in the right place.
A total of 35 grants of $300 each are available to help communities buy trees, shrubs and related materials.
Information on the grant program has been mailed to communities in Idaho and is also available by visiting the INLA web page, inlagrow.org and looking for the Plant a Tree logo. The application deadline is March 20, 2020. Successful applicants will be notified the week of March 23.
