Copperfield Park is downstream of Oxbow Dam on the Oregon side of the Snake River. The park was built in 1965 on the old town site of Copperfield, Oregon. Copperfield was a mining town known as "the rowdiest town in Oregon" in the early 1900s. Fire destroyed the town in August 1915. The park was renovated in 1989.

Copperfield Park is one of four parks Idaho Power maintains in the Hells Canyon area. The other parks are:

Park Facilities

The park's 62 recreational vehicle (RV) sites include:

  • Water
  • Electricity
  • Fire pits
  • Picnic tables

The park's 10 tent sites include:

  • Shade trees
  • Picnic tables
  • Extra parking spaces
  • RV dump station
  • Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) accessible restrooms with showers
  • A large, grassy picnic area next to the Snake River

A public pay phone can be found near the park along Oregon Highway 86 (Oregon 86). A boat ramp is located on the Oregon side, six-tenths of a mile downstream from the park, on Homestead Road. Features at the

boat ramp include:

  • Parking
  • Boat docks
  • Seasonal toilets
  • Garbage cans
  • A double-lane concrete boat ramp
  • Wireless high-speed Internet access (for an added fee)

Copperfield Boat Launch

The Copperfield Boat Launch is about a mile downstream from Copperfield Park, on the Oregon side of Hells Canyon Reservoir. Facilities include:

  • Parking
  • Boat docks
  • Seasonal toilets
  • Garbage cans
  • A double-lane concrete boat ramp

Oxbow Boat Launch

The Oxbow Boat Launch is on the Oregon side of Oxbow Reservoir. It is about 10 miles downstream of Brownlee Dam and 2 miles upstream from Copperfield Park next to Oregon 71. It is a day-use only site. Features include:

  • Docks
  • Parking
  • Garbage pickup
  • Composting toilet
  • A gravel boat ramp
