Swan Falls Dam Crossing Closed on Weekdays Until October

The public walkway across Swan Falls Dam will be closed on weekdays from May through October while Idaho Power performs maintenance on the dam’s spillway. Weekend access will remain open. The closure does not affect the campground, day-use park, museum, or boat access.

Swan Falls Dam, located south of Kuna, became the first hydroelectric project on the Snake River when it was completed in 1901. Idaho Power says the spillway is important to ensure Swan Falls continues to safely generate reliable, low-cost energy for its customers.

Visitors to the popular site can still enjoy free overnight camping, and the museum inside the dam’s historic powerhouse remains open each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for free, self-guided tours.

Schedule information related to Swan Falls and all Idaho Power recreation facilities is available online at idahopower.com/whatsopen.
