Expect Water Level Changes at Bliss, Lower Salmon Reservoirs Tuesday and Wednesday

BLISS, Idaho — Snake River water levels downstream of Lower Salmon Falls Dam will be lowered by up to three feet (36 inches) Tuesday morning to accommodate a routine annual inspection of the Shoestring Bridge by the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD). Idaho Power is helping to facilitate ITD’s inspection by releasing additional water from Lower Salmon Falls Dam starting Monday. This will enable the reservoir to hold back water during the ITD inspection Tuesday.

The inspection is expected to take about three hours Tuesday morning, starting as early as 9 a.m. Flows will begin to increase Tuesday afternoon and should return to current levels by Wednesday morning.

Flows and water levels at Bliss Reservoir, and downstream of Bliss Dam, will also see fluctuations. Water users may notice changes to water elevations starting as soon as Monday evening and should use extra caution along the shorelines.

Normal flows will resume once the inspection is complete.
