About the Program
This voluntary demand response program gives irrigation customers the opportunity to earn incentives by allowing Idaho Power to remotely turn off irrigation pumps for a few specific hours when summer energy demand is high. You choose how to participate, either through automatic dispatch using a load control device, or manual dispatch when you’re notified to turn off your selected pumps, so you stay in control of your operation.
Incentives
The Irrigation Peak Rewards program offers a financial incentive to customers for allowing Idaho Power to remotely turn off specific irrigation pumps during the program season. How to Participate
An enrollment packet, including the sign-up worksheet and application agreement is mailed to all eligible customers to their billing address in the spring each year. The packet contains a personalized estimate of the potential incentives available for participating. To enroll for this year’s Peak Rewards season, participants select the interruption option for each pump and submit the signed enrollment worksheet, filled out contact sheet and signed agreement to Idaho Power. What is the Automatic Load-Control Dispatch Option?
Idaho Power installs and operates a load control device(s) which provide the ability to send a signal that controls the associated irrigation pump(s) automatically.
What is the Manual Load-Control Dispatch Option?
Service points with at least 1,000 cumulative HP or that have limited communication availability are eligible for the Manual Dispatch options. Customers under this classification choose to manually control which pumps are turned off during a Load Control Event.
What are the Interruption Options?
- Early – load-control event hours between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.
- Standard – load-control event hours between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m.
- Extended – load-control event hours between 3 p.m. and 11 p.m.
What are the important facts about Load-Control Events?
- Load control events can occur Monday through Saturday (excluding holidays) during the three different event windows.
- During the program season, Idaho Power will conduct a minimum of three load control events.
- Load control events can occur up to four hours per day, and up to 16 hours per week, but no more than 60 hours per season.
- Customers have the option to opt-out of a load control event by calling the program office at 208-388-2534 preferably one hour before a scheduled load control event, although calling up to or during an event is allowed.
- Each opt-out event incurs an opt-out fee depending on the event window you are participating in. For the Standard and Extended options, the fee is $6.25 per billed demand (kW), and for the Early option, it is $3.25 per billed demand (kW).
- Participant’s equipment may be turned off outside of Peak Rewards program parameters without compensation in the unlikely event of a system emergency.
Can I participate with a pump that has not been in the program?
- Yes – all irrigation pumps are eligible, including those that have not participated in the past.
- If your pump has not been in the program in the past and is 30 HP or less, there is a one-time fee of $500.00 to enroll.
When do the Fixed or Variable incentives apply?
- Participants receive a financial incentive for participating in the program. The incentive includes a fixed demand credit of $5.25 per billed demand (kW) and a fixed energy credit of $0.008 per billed kWh for the Standard and Extended options, and a fixed demand credit of $2.75 per billed demand (kW) and a fixed energy credit of $0.004 per billed kWh.
- Variable incentive payments are paid after the fourth load control event and any additional load control events thereafter, for the season.
