Commercial and Industrial Fundamentals of Compressed Air Training

This is a one-day introductory course designed to teach facility engineers, operators, and maintenance staff how to achieve up to 15–25% cost savings through more effective production and use of compressed air. Participants will learn how to:

Calculate the energy cost of compressed air in a facility
Establish a baseline for measuring improvements in compressed air performance and efficiency
Better control their compressed air system to improve efficiency, reliability, productivity and profitability
Identify inappropriate uses of compressed air
Find and fix leaks
Establish a leak prevention program

Fundamentals of Energy Efficient Building Operation

The Fundamentals of Energy Efficient Building Operations course provides an introductory, instructor-led online series designed for professionals seeking a strong foundation in energy efficiency and building systems. Ideal for those new to facilities or energy management, the program covers key topics such as HVAC, lighting, energy management, and conservation strategies.

Participants will learn practical, low-cost methods to optimize building performance and make energy-smart decisions. Delivered via Zoom in six sessions over four weeks: from September 16 – October 15, 2026 and again November 3 – December 2, 2026.. The course reinforces Building Operator Certification® concepts and promotes sustainability awareness.

Commercial and Industrial Fan System Training

This class will be offered both in person at Idaho Power CHQ and virtually. Participants will learn how to identify energy-saving and productivity improvement opportunities in fan systems, including methods to recover wasted heating and cooling energy with potential payback periods of zero to three years. The course will also cover fan system operating cost analysis using DOE’s MEASUR software, fan affinity laws, VFD savings opportunities, and best practices for reliable VFD installation. Breakfast, lunch, parking, and course materials are included at no cost.

Commercial and Industrial Harmonics Training
November 9, 2026

This one-day class will focus on general power-quality principles and focus on harmonics in power systems. The class will explain how certain equipment produces harmonic current and voltage distortion; how that distortion impacts motors, transformers, and other power system components; and ways to mitigate the impact of harmonics and extend the life of your equipment. There will be a virtual option. Lunch will be provided.

NXT Level Lighting
Comprehensive lighting training for individuals who work in the commercial/industrial lighting retrofit market. NXT Level helps individuals to better design, sell and install advanced retrofit projects to fit their customer’s needs. Individuals and companies who apply may be eligible to earn the NXT Level designation and be listed on NXT Level’s Designation List. The online training covers lighting concepts, technologies, economics, sales techniques, codes and utility programs. Training takes 8 to 12 hours to complete and can earn you 8 CEUs.

Building Operator Certification (BOC) Level I – Multifamily

A training program for multifamily facility operators with at least two years of experience who want to strengthen their skills in energy‑efficient building operations. The program includes 74 hours of instruction, work‑site projects, and open‑book tests. BOC‑credentialed staff have been shown to reduce annual utility costs.

BOC Level II is a training program that prepares operators to evaluate the operational performance of their buildings with a focus on improving energy efficiency. Participants in the course will learn how to collect and analyze building data in order to prepare a building walk-through plan to identify opportunities to improve performance. Completion of Level II requires a time commitment of 61 hours which includes six classes, work-site projects, and open-book tests.
