Time of Day Plan: Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Time Of Day plan?Time Of Day is a voluntary plan for Idaho customers where participants pay two different prices for electricity depending on what time of day it’s used:
Peak time is the most expensive.
Off-Peak is least expensive. Prices are higher in the summer months (June-August) and lower in the non-summer months (September-May).
The Time Of Day periods for this plan are:
Summer (June-August)
- Peak: 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays, except holidays
- Off-Peak: 9 p.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
Non-Summer (September-May)
- Peak: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays, except holidays.
- Off-Peak: 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays
How much will I pay?It is important to identify how much energy you are currently using and when you are using it. If you are using less than 800 kWh per month, the Standard Residential plan may be your best option.
If you are using more than 800 kWh per month and can shift your usage, the Time Of Day plan may be your best option. To see an estimate of your bill under the Time Of Day plan, log in to My Account or register to become a My Account user and click on “Compare Your Bills” then “Compare Rates.” See Schedule 5 for Time Of Day pricing.
What type of customer would benefit from this plan?Typically Idaho customers who are using at least 800 kWh of energy per month who are willing and able to shift their electricity use to Off-Peak hours may reduce their electricity bills. Customers who currently do not use much electricity during the Peak periods also may benefit from this plan.
