Easement Releases

An easement is the grant of permission by a landowner that provides a legal right for another party to access the property for a stated purpose.

Easements granted to Idaho Power typically give permission for Idaho Power to install, access, upgrade or maintain electrical or related facilities.

As development continues throughout our service area, often the need arises for a release of easement. Other related requests are public utility easement relinquishments or roadway vacations. Reasons for release or related requests may include:

  • Property development, including a new subdivision, new structure or pool
  • Property sale (Easements may be an exception to title, and modification may be a condition of sale.)
  • Road right of way abandonment
  • Subdivision lot consolidation, lot split or lot line adjustment
