Easement Releases

An easement is the grant of permission by a landowner which provides a legal right for another party to access the property for a stated purpose.

Easements granted to Idaho Power typically give permission for Idaho Power to install, access, upgrade or maintain electrical or associated facilities.

As development continues throughout our service area, frequently the need arises for an easement to be released. Other related requests are public utility easement relinquishments or roadway vacations. Reasons for release or related requests may include:

  • Property development, including a new subdivision, new structure or pool
  • Property sale: Easements may be an exception to title and modification may be a contingency of sale
  • Road right of way abandonment
  • Subdivision lot consolidation, lot split or lot line adjustment
