The following directions will help you access Idaho Power recreation facilities.
To American Falls Dam and Reservoir – From the town of American Falls, Idaho, head north. There is good access to the area via Interstate 86 and Idaho 39. Idaho 39 straddles the top of the reservoir's nine-story-high dam for more than a half mile.
To C.J. Strike Reservoir – From Boise, take Exit 95 on Interstate 84 to Mountain Home, Idaho. Head south on Idaho 67 about 30 miles, toward Grand View, Idaho, to the C.J. Strike Dam area. Follow the Sportsmen's Access signs to dam.
To reach the Wildlife Management Area on the upstream end of the reservoir, take Idaho 51 south from Mountain Home about 15 miles to the Snake River at Loveridge Bridge. Idaho 51 joins Idaho 78 for a short distance. Follow Highway 51/78 about 6.5 miles west through the town of Bruneau to the second junction of Idaho 51 and 78. Go west another 2.5 miles on Idaho 78 to the Wildlife Management Headquarters and 12 miles to the town of Grand View.
Strike Dam Road accesses project facilities from the north, and River Road
passes through the area just downstream of the dam on the south side of the
Snake River.
To
Hagerman Valley/Thousand Springs Scenic Byway – The route
begins at the intersection of Interstate 84 and U.S. 30 at Bliss, Idaho. Follow
U.S. 30 south and east through the Hagerman Valley and Twin Falls, Idaho, to
Idaho 50. From the intersection with Idaho 50 and U.S. 30, head north to rejoin
I-84.
A third leg runs along U.S. 93 from downtown Twin Falls at the intersection
with U.S. 30 and U.S. 93, north across the Perrine Bridge and the Snake River
Canyon to I-84. This route offers travelers views of the Snake River, the Hagerman
Fossil Beds National Monument, numerous fish hatcheries, Shoshone Falls as well
as Thousand Springs.
To Hells Canyon (from Boise) – Follow Interstate 84, 50 miles west of Boise, to Exit 3 and head north on U.S. 95 for about 50 miles to Cambridge, Idaho. From Cambridge, turn west on Idaho 71 for about 28 miles until you reach the Hells Canyon area. Follow the signs for access to Idaho Power's Hells Canyon reservoirs and parks.
To Hells Canyon (from Baker City, Ore.) – From Interstate 84, use Exit 302 and head east on Oregon 86 through Richland and Halfway, Ore., to the parks. Road signs are posted along the highway to direct you into the Hells Canyon area.
To Milner – From Burley head west on U.S. 30 for seven miles. At the Milner Historic/Recreation Area sign, head north. Go one mile and then go west for about three miles on a gravel road to the parking area. From the parking area, a sign directs visitors to the boat ramp, a short distance to the east, where there is another parking lot and a picnic area. You can walk the shoreline, boat on the lake, or travel three miles of dirt road to the east.
To Shoshone Falls – From Interstate 84’s Exit 173, head south on U.S. 93/Blue Lakes Boulevard for 2.2 miles. From Blue Lakes Boulevard, turn left onto Falls Avenue and head east for three miles to 3300 East. The falls are several miles north, with signs pointing the way.
To Swan Falls – From Interstate 84’s Exit 44, head eight miles south on Idaho 69 to Kuna, Idaho. Turn south onto Swan Falls Road for about 15 miles to Swan Falls Dam.
