Cottonwood Park Closed Until October

Idaho Power closed its Cottonwood Park today (Monday, Aug. 4) for the construction of improvements to the facility located on the shore of C.J. Strike Reservoir. The park will re-open in October.

The company postponed the starting date to allow for a review of cultural resources on the site. That survey is completed and work will begin Monday.

Although Cottonwood is closed, visitors to Strike Reservoir have other boat launching and camping opportunities. North Park, Black Sands Marina, Jack’s Creek, Crane Falls and Loveridge Bridge remain open for boaters.

Idaho Power will spend more than $400,000 dollars on improvements to Cottonwood Park, including widening the boat ramp and improving the marina area. The improvements are a condition of the company’s federal license to operate the C.J. Strike hydroelectric project.

Those with questions about this project may contact Fred Noland at 208-388-6492 or by e-mail at fnoland@idahopower.com.

Idaho Power also has a link on its Web site to all C.J. Strike construction activities. From www.idahopower.com, go to “Rivers and Recreation” and then select “C.J. Strike” from the left hand menu.

Strike Reservoir is approximately 35 miles south of Mountain Home, Idaho on the Snake River. C. J. Strike is one of 17 hydroelectric projects operated by Idaho Power.
