Company’s Wind Commitment Now Nearly 400 MW

The Idaho Public Utilities Commission (IPUC) last week approved two agreements between Idaho Power and wind developers that clear the way for the construction of 40 Megawatts (MW)of wind generation.

The two projects, Bennett Creek Windfarm LLC and Hot Springs Windfarm LLC, are to be built in Elmore County.

With the addition of these two projects, Idaho Power has signed contracts for nearly 400 MW of wind generation on its system if all of the proposed projects to be completed by the end of 2008.

The company recently filed a Wind Integration Study with the IPUC outlining the issues surrounding combining non-dispatchable wind generation with its hydroelectric and thermal generating plants.

Idaho Power will hold a workshop March 15 with wind developers and others in the ballroom of the Owyhee Plaza Hotel in Boise to discuss the study’s methodology and findings and to answer questions about the Wind Integration Study. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m.
