Tours Resume After Changes In National Security Threat Level

Last week’s change in the national security level to "yellow," has revised Idaho Power’s security level as well.

Under the current threat level, the company has resumed public tours of its hydroelectric plants.

Tour groups must provide a list of the names of all adults taking the tour and their addresses to the company’s area manager. The list must be submitted to the area manager within 48 hours and adults must provide photo identification at the time of the tour.

Mid-Snake River and Swan Falls

Those interested in tours of company hydroelectric facilities in the Twin Falls area should contact Twin Falls Area Manager Randy Hill (208) 736-3458.

Tours of the company’s historic exhibit at Swan Falls Dam, 25 miles south of Kuna, Idaho, also can be arranged by contacting Randy Hill at the number listed above.

Group tours of this facility also require 48-hours advance notice and a list of names and addresses of all adults must be provided at that time.

The company also has revised its security arrangements at C.J. Strike Dam near Mountain Home, Idaho.

Vehicle access to Scout Park, located immediately downstream of the dam, once again is allowed. Overnight camping at Scout Park now is permitted as well.

Hells Canyon Area

Tours of the company’s Oxbow Dam and power plant at Hells Canyon can be arranged by contacting Hells Canyon Area Manager Ric Bobier (541) 785-3323.

Security changes at Hells Canyon have had no impact on access to camping or boat ramp access.

All parks are open and both recreational vehicle and tent camping sites are available on a first-come-first-served basis. No reservations are taken.

Anglers are reminded that the road to the Oxbow Dam is closed to public vehicles at the company’s Oxbow Shop facilities. The dam and by pass reach are accessible on foot, however. There also is no parking or fishing allowed on the top of the Hells Canyon Dam.
