ENERGY STAR is a government-backed program that designates products as energy efficient. Products labeled as ENERGY STAR must meet higher, stricter efficiency criteria than federal standards. Products in more than 50 categories are eligible for the ENERGY STAR. Even new homes can be designated ENERGY STAR.
