Meter Specialists may encounter hundreds of dogs in the course of their day.

Most dogs are not aggressive and yet can and do pose a hazard for Meter Specialists. Multiple dogs, small dogs (can slip through a gate while accessing property), and large dogs are all of concern.

Normally, well-behaved dogs may become aggressive when our Meter Specialist enters the yard if the dog’s master is present. Be aware if you or children are present, the dog could react aggressively if our Meter Specialist enters the property.

If you own a dog that is kept near your meter, please consider the following options on meter-reading day:

• Meters are read about the same day every month. To find out what day your meter is read, check out your power bill. The next scheduled meter read date is located above your meter information on the bill. Please note: unusual conditions (weather or staffing, for example) may arise that cause us to read the meter ahead or behind that date.
• On the day your meter is read, kennel your dog, or keep it inside.
