Hubbard Substation Project

Project Need

Increases in usage and demand for electricity have severely strained Idaho Power’s existing electrical transmission facilities in the Boise Valley.

In order to continue to provide reliable electric service to its customers, and to meet existing and future electrical transmission capacity needs, Idaho Power plans to construct a new transmission switching substation on South Cloverdale Road, across from the existing Mora substation.

The project also requires a 230,000-volt (230-kV) transmission line, from the Mountain Home area, that will tie to a new power generating plant.

Substation Details

Hubbard Substation is planned for construction in November 2007 through April 2008. This station will tie the new generation in the Mountain Home area to the electrical system in the Treasure Valley. This substation will initially combine three 230-kV transmission circuits. As the area continues to develop and grow, up to three additional circuits will be added. View a printable map .

Sub-Transmission Line Details

The transmission line will be designed for single circuit 230-kV. Road right of way or private easements will be used for the line corridor. The desired in-service date for this new line is April 1, 2008. See the Danskin-Hubbard Project for more information.
