The area south and east of Meridian has experienced steady growth in the last 10 years and continues to grow. This growth has resulted in significant increases in electricity usage within the area that has severely strained Idaho Power’s existing electric facilities.

In order to continue to meet existing and future electrical capacity needs, and to provide reliable electric service for our customers, Idaho Power plans to construct a new distribution substation and 138,000-volt (138-kV) sub-transmission line.

Hillsdale Substation is to be located near the southeast corner of of Eagle and Amity roads. View a printable map (PDF) .

Initially, the substation will have one transformer and associated switchgear. Ultimate build-out of the substation would be two substation transformers and switchgear and up to eight distribution feeders to serve area customers.

A one-mile, 138-kV sub-transmission line is to be constructed to supply the new distribution station. The line will originate at the intersection of Cloverdale and Amity roads and be constructed along the south side of Amity to the substation site. The line will include two, 138-kV circuits installed on the poles.
