Beacon Light Substation
Project Need
The Eagle area continues to experience significant growth. In order to site future facilities ahead of growth, Idaho Power has determined a new substation will be required west of Eagle in the next five to seven years.
To continue to provide reliable electric service and to meet both existing and future electrical capacity needs for the area, Idaho Power plans to construct a new substation on the southeast corner of Beacon Light and Linder roads. The project also will require a sub-transmission line along Linder Road. Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2012.
Substation Details
Beacon Light Substation will serve the surrounding area north and west of Eagle. The substation will transform electricity from 138,000 volts (138 kV) to 12,470 volts (12.47 kV), and will be designed to ultimately serve up to eight 12.47-kV distribution circuits to bring electricity from the substation to homes and businesses in the area.

Sub-Transmission Line Details
The sub-transmission line will be designed for two 138-kV sub-transmission circuits at the top and two 12.47-kV distribution circuits built underneath. The line will use steel poles and is proposed to run north from Idaho 44 and east to Linder Road. The existing distribution on the east side of Linder Road, will be incorporated on the sub-transmission line on the west side of Linder Road. A printable map is available. Road right of way or private easements would be used for the line corridor.
