Turner Ranch
Wildlife Habitat Property
Idaho Power purchased Turner Ranch in Idaho’s Bruneau Valley in 2007 based on a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) mandate to mitigate for 170 acres of riparian habitat impacted by hydroelectric power operations downstream of the C.J. Strike Hydroelectric Project.
The mitigation plan addresses the protection, management and enhancement of the natural resources located on the ranch, particularly riparian and wetlands habitats.
In addition, the plan addresses appropriate public access and property use.
Land Management Practices
Management of the property is reviewed annually with the C.J. Strike Wildlife Management Area advisory committee, comprised of state and federal agency personnel and adjacent landowners.
Idaho Power effectively plans and implements sound environmental management practices while taking community interests into consideration.

Land management activities have focused on property stewardship, cleanup, weed control, and fence construction and removal. Future management actions will focus largely on weed control and riparian habitat protection and enhancement.
Hunting Opportunities for Youth
In 2009, we entered into an agreement with the Treasure Valley chapter of Pheasants Forever to cooperatively implement a youth-only hunting opportunity on 270 of the property's 384 acres during the normal waterfowl and upland game hunting season.
Youth hunters are required to register at the Turner Ranch sportsman access prior to each hunting trip.
For more details on the youth hunt, visit Idaho Pheasants Forever website.
Turner Ranch youth hunt rules align with Idaho Department of Fish and Game's.
