Camping in Undeveloped Areas
Whether you stay in the campground facilities, or at other undeveloped campsites in the Hells Canyon area, it is the policy of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and Idaho Power Company to limit camping to 14 days per stay. You are required to remove all camping equipment and leave the area for at least 14 days between any consecutive 14-day stay. Camping equipment includes, but is not limited to:
- Tents
- Vehicles
- Sleeping bags
- Recreation vehicles
- Cooking equipment
- All personal possessions
A 14-day stay limit within any period of 20 consecutive days are followed in all parks from April 1 through Oct. 31. Once your 14-day limit is reached, you must then vacate the park for a minimum of five days. During those five days you may visit any of our other parks in Hells Canyon. After the five days, you may return to your original park, if space is available. You cannot hold a campsite for future use by leaving camping equipment unattended at the site for future use for more than 24 hours. These rules help ensure equal camping opportunities for all visitors.
During your stay you must use the appropriate sanitation facilities. Please remove all of your waste and trash when you leave. Help us to maintain the incredible beauty of this area by leaving the site in better condition than when you found it.
