Wood River Transmission Planning Continues

Engineering analysis continues for a transmission line project from the 2007 Wood River Electrical Plan.

The new line, proposed to run between Hailey and Ketchum, was recommended by the community advisory committee to improve reliability. Neighborhood meetings are underway and more public involvement opportunities will be available and publicized this summer.

Also in progress from that plan is a permit application to rebuild the existing transmission line between Hagerman and the King substation east of Fairfield. A higher voltage line would improve reliability for the entire Wood River Valley. Permit approval by the Bureau of Land Management could be affected by status of the sage grouse, listed as a candidate species for protection under the Endangered Species Act.
