Two Fishing Opportunities for Idaho Anglers
Idaho Power recently created two large fishing opportunities for Idaho anglers.
During the week of Oct. 19, the company released 62,750 rainbow trout into Mid-Snake reservoirs as part of its annual fish stocking program. The rainbows, averaging 10 inches in length, were released in the C.J. Strike, Upper Salmon Falls, Lower Salmon Falls and Bliss reservoirs as part of the company’s jaw tag return study which is currently being conducted by Idaho Power researchers.
Anglers who are lucky enough to catch one of the jaw-tagged trout have an opportunity to cash in on a bi-annual $1,000 reward conducted via random drawing provided they follow simple instructions to call a special 800# and report the catch to Idaho Power.
On Oct. 29, Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDF&G) released more than 300 steelhead fish into the Boise River in areas that stretched from Barber Park to Glenwood Bridge. The release was an opportunity created from the surplus of steelhead runs this year and the cooperative work being completed by IDF&G personnel at Idaho Power’s Oxbow Hatchery. If the surplus continues, we can expect to see similar releases in coming weeks.
