Home Improvement Program
Get A Cash Incentive For Installing Attic Insulation
Beginning June 1, 2009
Idaho Power is no longer accepting incentive applications for work performed by the company, Insulation Specialists. Idaho Power does not solicit for the Home Improvement Program door to door or through telemarketing.
Make Your Home Comfortable And Efficient Year-Round!
Did you know that heating and cooling your home can be responsible for as much as 50 percent of your home’s energy use and costs? Upgrading your attic insulation may help reduce this cost.
Why Upgrade Your Attic Insulation?
Insulation, when installed properly, requires no maintenance and does its job quietly for the life of your house. The amount of insulation in your home is often determined by the building codes in place at the time it was built. Unless insulation was added at a later date, many homes do not have adequate insulation.
Experience The Benefits Of Increased Insulation
The level of insulation in your attic can dramatically impact the energy efficiency of your home and your cooling and heating costs. Insulation performance is measured by its R-value, or its ability to resist heat flow; the greater the R-Value, the greater the insulation’s ability to keep winter warmth inside and summer heat outside. The most common types of insulation are fiberglass (batts and blown) and cellulose.
Get A Cash Incentive
Beginning June 1, 2009, Idaho Power offers a cash incentive of $0.15 per-square-foot for the professional installation of attic insulation.
Choosing An Insulation Contractor
Because Idaho Power does not install attic insulation, give estimates or recommend specific contractors, we advise customers call at least two contractors and request a bid for attic insulation—be sure to check the contractors’ references or their standing with the Better Business Bureau to help ensure a smooth transaction.
Program Requirements
- Only attic insulation qualifies for an incentive, not wall or under-floor insulation.
- Only attic insulation installed over conditioned spaces will qualify. Attic space over unconditioned spaces, such as garages, will not qualify for this program.
- Insulation must be professionally installed by an insulation contractor. Self-installed insulation will not qualify.
- An incentive will be paid on added attic insulation up to R-50.
- New insulation must increase the R-Value by R-10 or greater. This applies to both batt and blow-in insulation.
- Only existing, single-family homes qualify for an incentive. New construction or multi-family dwellings do not qualify.
- Homes must have central air conditioning or be electrically heated to qualify.
- Only residential customers who live in Idaho Power’s service area in Idaho can get an incentive. This program is not available in Oregon.
