Langley Gulch Power Plant
To fulfill Idaho Power’s commitment to meet growing electricity demands, the company proposed adding a new generation resource.
Langley Gulch Power Plant, a clean,
highly efficient natural gas plant, will be
built on a remote site in Payette County, Idaho. Construction is expected to begin in August 2010 and is scheduled for completion December 2012.
Idaho Power is balancing the need to meet growing electricity demand with our commitment to provide safe, reliable, low-cost energy to our customers. Building this new power plant helps ensure customers have the electricity they need to secure the same comfortable lifestyles for future generations.
This new power plant, identfied as a need in Idaho Power's 2004, 2006, and updated 2008 Integrated Resource Plans (IRP), is being added to our diversified portfolio of resources that also includes significant amounts of energy efficiency measures and alternative energy resources.
Langley Gulch will improve electric service reliability and help Idaho Power integrate and deliver intermittent renewable resources, such as wind, to all Idaho Power customers.
The construction of the Langley Gulch Power Plant demonstrates our ongoing commitment to provide our customers responsible electricity while maintaining a balanced generation resource portfolio.
