How We Make Your Electricity

Electricity is energy that is sent to your home or business safely and efficiently. It is the only known resource that has to be consumed as it is being produced. You never hear it, see it, smell it, or touch it, but when you need it, all you have to do is flip a switch, push a button or plug in a cord.
Idaho Power provides electricity to 487,000 customers in our 24,000 square mile southern Idaho and eastern Oregon service area. We take the needs of our customers seriously and continually look for ways to produce fair-priced, sustainable energy.
We created a network of varying and viable energy resources to ensure we meet the energy demands of today, while preparing for the demands of tomorrow. Available sources of energy include wind, solar, hydro, coal, natural gas, diesel, nuclear, and steam. Idaho Power, working with our communities, takes a balanced look at all available resources, selecting those meeting the requirements of customers while providing as many low-cost options as possible.
