Requests for Proposal

Wind Energy Solicitation

Request for Proposal

Transmission Cost Clarification

Questions and Answers

As part of the company’s ongoing efforts to acquire additional renewable alternative energy resources, Idaho Power has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to purchase approximately 150 megawatts (MW) of additional wind-powered generation by 2012.

The need for this resource, identified in our 2006 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), was reaffirmed in the June 2008 IRP update.

With the passage of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (the economic stimulus package) and other events, Idaho Power may have an opportunity to acquire additional wind generation for its portfolio at competitive prices. To take advantage of the situation, we have accelerated the timing of the wind resource acquisition.

The company is issuing this RFP to wind-powered generation resource developers. Responses to the competitive solicitation are due by 5 p.m., June 12, 2009.

This solicitation integrates with our three-part company strategy — responsible energy planning, responsible development and protection of resources, and responsible energy use. The new resource will help the company maintain a balanced resource portfolio, allowing us to provide responsible, reliable, fair-priced electric services, today and tomorrow. This is our commitment to our customers, employees and shareowners, and this carbon-light resource is another way we demonstrate our commitment in action.
